Just got home from the annual Hamtramck local band blowout. It's something like three nights of music in one area of the city with lots of clubs that have bands all playing simultaneously. Pay once for a wristband and get into any of the venues unlimited for all three nights. My favorite band was Country Bob and the Bloodfarmers. They're an old-school punk rock group, and by old I mean they are like in their 40's and maybe 50's, but they kick ass.

As mentioned in another thread, we just saw AFI....but the two unknown bands playing with them were terrific.
The opener was a band called "Viva Hate" ( http://www.myspace.com/vivavivahate ). They looked and sounded great and should hopefully get signed soon (they are currently unsigned).
The band just before AFI was called "Love Equals Death" ( http://www.myspace.com/loveequalsdeath ). Their music was alright....I enjoyed it and want to hear more....but their live performance was terrific. Energetic and entertaining. They're signed currently to Fat Wreck Chords, so I think we'll hear more from them soon.
Anyways, just my two cents here.
Cheers!

The Sword. Age Of Winters is a great album, and as an added filip, the strenght of their South By Southwest appearance last year got their song "Freya" into Guitar Hero II.
Saw them with other local band Lions Of Tsavo. |

Saw Tiger Army at Warped '07 and fell in love with their sound. Psychobilly with punk and country elements. Good stuff.
...and that stand up bass is very distinctive.

I'm liking Carbon/Silicon and The Good, The Bad, And The Queen.
Eddie Vedder's "Into The Wild" soundtrack was good too. |

I recommend a post-rock band of my friend.
New Century Classics.
Purely instrumental, 5-piece band: (2 guitars, drums, keyboards & violin)
They are releasing their first album next month
